The electrical construction industry is becoming more technical
each day. A good candidate for the apprenticeship program is
one with a good school record, especially in math and science.
We're looking for reliable individuals with a positive attitude
and a desire to work hard and succeed. Qualifications for the
apprenticeship program include:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must be a high school graduate or have a GED.
- Minimum math - must have completed one full year of high
school Algebra with a passing grade or one post high school Algebra
course with a passing grade.
- Qualify for an interview by taking the NJATC aptitude test.
(This test will be given by the Dakotas JATC.)
- Must be physically able to perform the work.
- Must provide official transcript(s) for high school and post
high school showing courses and grades.
- Pass a pre-employment drug test.
- Character and personal traits are important. A friendly attitude
with a willingness to ask questions to learn earns an apprentice
the respect of his/her fellow workers. No matter what job they
are asked to do, the apprentice does it willingly. They should
be a pleasant person who gets along well with others. An electrician's
job involves cooperation and team work, and an apprentice must
work within that team.
